Reddit help guide
Find out whether the restriction applies to one subreddit, your whole account, or account security. Then use the channel that can actually review it.

Read the account notice and check its scope. A subreddit ban belongs with that community’s moderators. A Reddit account ban uses Reddit’s appeal process. A security lock follows account-recovery instructions, including a password reset when required.
Keep the exact notice, any linked rule, the date, and whether the restriction is temporary or permanent. Do not infer the reason from the last post you submitted. The notice is the starting point for understanding the decision.
For a subreddit ban, use ModMail to explain why you think the community decision should be reconsidered. Do not send individual moderators chat requests about it.
For a Reddit account ban, follow the appeal instructions in the notice. Reddit also provides an appeals page for restrictions you believe were applied incorrectly. Some spam or inauthentic-activity restrictions may not come with an inbox message.
Official Reddit appealsIdentify the decision, explain the part you believe is mistaken, and include relevant context. A useful review request addresses the stated reason. It does not need promises about future marketing or a long account history.
Our suggested structure: “My account received [restriction] on [date]. The notice refers to [reason]. I believe this is incorrect because [specific context]. Please review the decision.” This is an editorial example, not a Reddit-approved template or a promise of reinstatement.
Reddit’s account-status overview distinguishes suspicious-activity locks from bans. For a security lock, it instructs users to reset their password. Follow the notice’s recovery steps instead of treating every login problem as a moderation dispute.
Using an alternate account to participate in a community that banned you is ban evasion under Reddit’s guidance and can result in sitewide suspension. Request review through the proper channel. No outside tool can promise to lift a ban or make a future post immune to moderation.

Read the account notice for the stated reason and scope. Reddit can restrict accounts for sitewide rule violations; community moderators can ban participation in their own subreddit. A missing post does not establish either kind of ban.
No. A subreddit ban concerns one community and is handled by its moderators. A Reddit account ban is a platform action. Send a community appeal through ModMail; follow Reddit’s instructions for a platform appeal.
Use the appeal instructions in Reddit’s account notice. If you suspect an incorrect spam or inauthentic-activity restriction without a notice, use Reddit’s official appeals page. Explain the decision you are challenging and why it appears incorrect. Review does not guarantee reversal.
No. Reddit distinguishes security locks from rule-enforcement bans. Its account-status guidance says a security lock requires a password reset. Follow the recovery steps in your notice.
Do not use an alternate account to get around a community ban. Reddit describes that as ban evasion, which can lead to sitewide suspension. Ask for review through the appropriate channel instead.
